Mediterranean Landscape, ca. 1890

Paul Aubin exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in 1890 and 1891 and then joined the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, which had been founded in 1890 and where he exhibited his work until the beginning of the Great War.

He worked especially in Provence, around Martigues where he concentrated on the development of Provencal landscapes with the softness of colouring and power of the light, as shown by our painting.
